Services

Our services

We cover most of what a civil or environmental project needs, from the first survey to the final inspection. Pick an area below for the detail, or just call us and describe the job.

Civil & Structural Engineering

We are registered for civil and structural construction. That covers steel structure erection, reinforced concrete and roads in gravel, paving blocks, concrete and bitumen, along with the drainage that goes with them. We also draw up building plans and bills of quantities, either from our standard designs or made to your brief.

More about civil & structural
  • Steel structuresDesign and erection of steel frames, warehouses and canopies.
  • Reinforced concreteFoundations, frames, slabs and retaining walls.
  • Roads and drainageGravel, paving block, concrete and bitumen roads with side drains and culverts.
  • Hydraulic structures and check damsGabion check dams, weirs, culverts and intake works. We have a lot of experience building these.
  • Building plansStandard plans or a custom design for homes, offices and commercial buildings.
  • Bills of quantitiesItemised BOQs so you can budget properly and compare contractor prices.

Water Resources, Irrigation & Agriculture

Most of our projects start with water: where it comes from, how much there is and what happens to it in the wet and dry seasons. We model catchments, work out water balances and design irrigation and supply schemes around the numbers.

More about water resources
  • Integrated watershed managementCatchment plans that weigh up farming, water supply, energy and the environment, including catchment protection measures.
  • Hydrologic modellingRainfall-runoff and catchment hydrology, including the effect of land use change.
  • Water balance analysisHow much water is available against how much is needed, to support allocation and investment decisions.
  • Irrigation designScheme layout, crop water requirements and day-to-day irrigation management.
  • Groundwater explorationSurveys to site boreholes, and development of groundwater supplies.
  • Energy and waterBalancing hydropower, irrigation and domestic demand on the same source.

Environmental Engineering

Our environmental engineers prepare the assessments and management plans your project needs for approval, then help you stick to them during construction. We also design water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) systems and restore damaged land.

More about environmental
  • Environmental impact assessmentScoping, baseline studies and EIA reports for regulatory approval.
  • Environmental managementManagement plans, monitoring and compliance reporting.
  • WASHWater supply, sanitation and hygiene for communities, schools and clinics.
  • Ecological restorationRehabilitating degraded land, wetlands and river banks.
  • Climate change adaptationPractical adaptation measures for infrastructure and farming.
  • Land use and land cover changeMapping how land use has changed and what it means for water and soil.

Geomatics, GIS & Remote Sensing

Designs are only as good as the survey underneath them. Our geomatics team handles boundary and topographic surveys on the ground and uses GIS and satellite imagery to map larger areas.

More about geomatics & gis
  • Topographic surveysGround levels and features for design, earthworks and drainage.
  • Cadastral surveysProperty boundary surveys for registration and development.
  • Groundwater and surface water surveysField surveys for water supply and planning.
  • GISSpatial databases, suitability analysis and maps people can actually use.
  • Remote sensingSatellite imagery for land cover, vegetation and water monitoring.
  • Catchment delineationWatershed boundaries and drainage networks from terrain data.

Project & Construction Management

We plan the work, manage the contract and keep someone on site who knows what good looks like. You get regular progress updates, so you know where the project stands on time and money without having to ask.

More about project management
  • Construction planningProgrammes and phasing that take the real site conditions into account.
  • Contract managementProcurement, contract administration, variations and claims.
  • Site supervisionResident engineering and quality control.
  • Site inspectionsIndependent inspections and progress reports for owners and funders.
  • Project implementationFull delivery for private, public and donor-funded projects.
  • Virtual consultationsVideo meetings with the team, so you do not have to travel to see us.

Not sure what you need?

Describe the problem: a site, a water source, a building, a permit. We will tell you what is involved and who on our team would handle it.
